Binairo

Binairo, also called takuzu or the binary puzzle, asks you to fill a grid with 0s and 1s: equal numbers in each line, never three alike in a row. New grids at three levels and a daily binairo.

Your statistics

Every binairo grid here comes from our own generator and is checked by the binairo solver: it has exactly one answer, and the solver's explained rules finish it without a single trial step.

Binairo rules

  • Fill every square with 0 or 1.
  • Each row and each column has as many 0s as 1s.
  • No more than two equal digits sit next to each other in a row or column.
  • No two rows are the same, and no two columns are the same.

Tap a square for 0, again for 1, and once more to clear it; drag to fill a stretch the same way. On a keyboard, type 0 or 1. Three equal digits in a row, or a line with too many of one digit, turn red at once.

Levels

Easy is 6 by 6, medium 8 by 8 and hard 10 by 10. Every level is solvable with the same named rules: pairs and gaps, full counts, the only ways left to fill a line, and the no-twins rule. Bigger grids simply have more to keep track of.

Binairo strategy

  • Pairs: two 1s side by side are surrounded by 0s on both ends.
  • Gaps: a single empty square between two 1s must be 0.
  • Counting: once a line has all its 1s, the rest are 0s, and the other way round.
  • Near-full lines: with two squares left, one 0 and one 1, try each order; often one makes three in a row and is ruled out.
  • Twins: when a line is one step from matching a finished line, the remaining squares must break the match.

Hints and statistics

Hint names the rule and the line, fills the squares it settles and highlights them. Check and Show mistakes compare your digits with the answer; your times and daily streak are kept per level in this browser. Next, try star battle or nonograms online, or the slitherlink loop puzzle.
