Numberlink

Numberlink is the connect-the-pairs puzzle behind flow-style games: join each pair of equal numbers with a path, without crossings, so that every square is used. Play new grids or the daily numberlink.

Your statistics

Our numberlink generator draws one random path through every square, cuts it into pieces, and puts a pair of numbers at the ends of each piece. The grid is kept only when the flow puzzle solver finds exactly one way to connect all the pairs and fill the grid.

How to play

  • Connect each pair of equal numbers with a path of squares that touch side by side.
  • Paths never cross, branch or share a square.
  • Every square of the grid ends up on a path.

Press on a number and drag to its twin. Dragging back along the path shortens it, and starting again from a number redraws its path. Drawing through another path cuts it there. Tap a square to clear the lines through it. Each finished path takes the color of its number.

Levels

Easy grids are 5 by 5 with 4 or 5 pairs, medium 7 by 7 with 7 to 9 pairs, and hard 8 by 8 with 10 to 13 pairs. More pairs mean more paths that must fit around each other.

Strategy

  • Edges and corners first: pairs near the border usually run along it; a path hugging the wall leaves the middle free for the rest.
  • Short pairs: two numbers next to each other are often joined directly, but check that it does not strand a square.
  • Two ways in and out: every empty square is passed by a path, so it needs two open sides. If only two of its sides are still open, the path uses both.
  • No loops: a path that runs back alongside itself leaves squares nobody can fill; in a unique puzzle that never happens.

Hints and statistics

Hint draws the full path of one pair from the unique answer and clears anything in its way. Check and Show mistakes mark lines that are not in the answer. Times and the daily streak are kept per level in your browser. For more connection puzzles, try bridges and hidato.

Questions

Is numberlink the same as Flow Free?

Flow Free is a popular app built on the numberlink puzzle. This page uses numbers instead of colored dots, but the rules are the same, including filling every square.

Do I have to fill every square?

Yes. A grid is solved when every pair is connected and no square is left empty.

Why does my path disappear when I start from a number?

Starting a drag on a number redraws that pair from scratch, the quickest way to fix a wrong turn. Undo brings the old path back.

Is the daily numberlink the same for everyone?

Yes. Our generator builds it from the date, one per level, and it changes at midnight on your device.
